Ecological Aquaculture
ECOLOGICAL AQUACULTURE - WHAT IS IT?
No, we did not just make this name up! I really don't know who used it first, but Dr. Barry Costa-Pierce in New England is probably the one who has used it more than anyone else. He wrote the book! But so did Lawrence Hutchinson in England.
I am happy to give them both credit with the term! It is a great one!
For the purposes of this course, let's use the following to Describe Ecological Aquaculture:
“The process of growing plants and animals in aquatic systems using methodology that mimics natural historic conditions and is ecolonomic.”
I had to get "Ecolonomic" in there!
